In Markin Square note the front entrance of the building No.16 (in Nizhnevolzhskaya Embankment). Initially, the idea of building a proper Board of Trade in that time Sofronovskaya Square (today`s Markin Square) generated the opposition from both the city authorities and its citizens, who feared that a local public garden could be at risk. But Aristarkh Blinov, merchant from Nizhny Novgorod donated his property plot of land at the corner of Sofronivskaya Square and the river embankment for the construction purposes, so that a small public garden was preserved.
The years of construction are indicated on the building facade facing the Volga (1895-1896).
Almost half of Nizhny Novgorod Board of Trade visitors were steamboat owners, followed by grain wholesale and traders in oil and oil products, then timber merchants. It was the place for the major transactions for the future season of the river and sea navigation.
