The Botanic Garden of Nizhny Novgorod State University is a proper natural reserve with a big number of plant species from different parts of the world, adjusted to the climate conditions of the Middle Volga.
Today the Botanic Garden covers the area of 35, 2 hectares. It is situated in the mix conifer and broadleaved woodland, in a partially preserved oak-grove patches that border the garden property from the South and East. Today the Botanic garden is a regional scale nature reserve.
